Anytime I try to view a page that requires Java, the browser closes suddenly without warning. So I did a search online, and found refences that said I need to clear the Java temporary files. So I tried to do that, and I got an error, it says "Bad Installation..." something to do with a file called javaw.exe couldn't be accessed. So I tried to update Java. I download the update file, but I get another error, the zip file cannot be uncompressed.

What can I do to fix my Java?

The best way to fix this is to unisall Java from the Add/Remove Control Panel. Be sure to uninstall all the various Java entries there may be more then one. Then delete the java folder at C:/Program Files/Java to clean up any leftover bits. Then go to Java.com and install the newest Java.

Do the following in the order listed:

Uninstall all current versions of Sun Java Runtime Environment.

Go into the C:\Program Files folder and delete the entire Java folder.

    Restart your computer.

Download version 1.6.0.16(6 Update 16) from here and then install it.
