Vista Ultimate, installed from clean HDD.
Vista activated & genuine

I want to install Java. Using the manual method, from java.com , after downloading the 15+MB installation file, I am greeted with error 1722
"there is a problem with this windows installer program"
Then, java installer informs me that it has finished.

When I try to access the web site,
"windows has blocked this software because it can't verify the publisher"

I tried to update Windows installer, but its requirements do not list Vista.

I have uninstalled java, re-downloaded & re-installed.

I turned off IE 7's security.
I added the web site to IE's trusted zone.

I tried to install the java plugin for FF, but I am informed "not available", but "manual install" is active.

Sincerely,

wats up with the "bump".... i see it all the time...

I installed Java perfectly on my copy of Vista, however i haven't had the time to upgrade from my RC1 to the RTM.

There isn't a Java release for Vista yet either, that could be it.

You running 32bit or 64bit?
