I discovered that I had a virus in my new computer and with the great help from Tech Support I managed to remove this. However, I realised that maybe the reason my old computer was so slow was because it had the same virus. I have plugged it in today and realised that it has got this. I scanned it using Hijack 2 and then downloaded Combofix (I forgot to install Windows XP recovery-I hope that doesn't matter too much) which I then ran and have have now done another hijack 2 log. Can you please advise what I should do next.

Open Notepad and copy and paste the text in the quote box below into it:
File::
C:\w2ngo.com
C:\WINDOWS\system32\fool0.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\fool1.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\kxvo.exe
C:\l2quk.exe
Registry::
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"kxva"=-

Save the file to you desktop and name it CFScript.txt

Then drag the CFScript.txt into the ComboFix.exe as shown in the screenshot below.

This will start ComboFix again. It may ask to reboot. Post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a new HijackThis log.

This has taken about 2 hours to do because the computer is so slow. One thing though when the Combofix was rebooting my computer I got an error message which was something like DLL.exe and said you can't catch me (I can't be absolutely sure as the computer turned off as I was reading it)!!!. Anyway here are the logs

Kaspersky does not remove anything but will provide a log of anything it finds. On August 8th, 2006 Kaspersky updated the software used for Free Online Virus Scanner. In order to continue using the online scanner you will need to uninstall the old version (if previously used) from your Add/Remove Programs list and then install the latest version. To do this, follow the steps here and reboot afterwards if your system does not reboot automatically or it will show 'Kaspersky Online Scanner license key was not found!

Sorry about taking so long to reply. Could not get on to the internet to process (discovered it was Norton blocking the internet!) and then had major illnesses at home. All ok now so have run as requested-logs as follows

LoadLibrary failed for C:\WINDOWS\system32\ieso0.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ieso0.dll NOT unregistered.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ieso0.dll moved successfully.

Do you know what this is?
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,AutoConfigURL = 00-1D-09-84-2F-35

Everything else looks fine, any problems?

Follow these steps to uninstall Combofix and tools used in the removal of malware
  • Click START then RUN
  • Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.

It looks like a MAC address, which is related to your network card.

Before you remove it go to start, run and type in cmd then press the enter key.
Now in the Command window type ipconfig /all

Does that match the line for Physical Address? If so I'm not sure that you want to remove it. Let me know the outcome.

Run HJT again and put a check in the following:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,AutoConfigURL = 00-1D-09-84-2F-35

Close all applications and browser windows before you click "fix checked".
