i want to setup Internet connection via proxy server.
I've tried several different HTTP/HTTPS proxy servers i found free online.
however it ignores the proxy and connects directly.

even tried to test fake IP and port as is in the screen below - however it still connects to internet ignoring the proxy!
it should not be able to connect at all.

what can you advise? how can i force it to connect via proxy?
i've ASUS RT-AC68R with latest firmware.

I think you are not understanding the function of those settings, those are there in case you are using a proxy server on the network to regulate outbound traffic to the Internet, if you don't have one those settings do not apply. Since the address you are providing is outside of your network, the drive connects to the internet anyway.
This was taken from the user manual:
"Proxy Configuration: The CloudBox may be used with a network that includes a proxy server for Internet access. Select the checkbox next to Enable proxy in order to enter the IP address and port number for the proxy server. Select the Authorization required checkbox if a Name and Password are needed to reach the Internet via the proxy server. Click APPLY to execute the changes"

thanks, i did not see that in the manual - thought i can specify outside proxy as internet access point.
well, that takes care of it - getting a Synology drive :)
