    Hi,

Having trouble with my daughter's laptop. HP Pavillion that is starting normally but when you log on to use the following message comes up:
    Explorer.exe Application Error
The Application failed to initialize properly (0x0000022)
Click on ok to terminate the application.

Then it says loading personal settings and all that comes up is the wallpaper picture - no icons, start, or taskbar. It's the same with the other user as well. It's only 6 months old and hasn't been used since early December when it was going fine.

    It runs Xp Home - 256ram - 40gb

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers
    Linda

I'd try doing a System Restore to a date when it worked for starters.

    You can follow these directions:

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;304449

Or you can try it by opening the Task Manager and selecting File > New task and entering:

    %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

safe mode with command prompt is probably your best bet though.

    Hi,

I done a system restore in safe mode that was successful - though I did find a virus that I'm working on now. Thanks

    Cheers
