    kb2418241
    kb982524

Hi, let us have some Pc specifications.
    Check and post
TSG System Information Utility - found here.
    http://library.techguy.org/wiki/TSG_Valuable_links
    ------
    Download Security Check by screen317
    http://screen317.spywareinfoforum.org/
    Save it to your Desktop.

    Double click the install icon.
A command Prompt window will open.
Let it scan the Pc - press any key when asked.
It should now open in Notepad - and will save a log called checkup.txt.
Post the result of the scan here.

If you got that HP Compaq nx9105 laptop second-hand and with the "debris" and problems from its previous owner, you should consider doing a clean reinstall and getting a fresh start with it.

A recovery disc kit that will revert it back to its original factory condition appears to be available here.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

It supports up to 2 GB(2048 MB) of DDR PC2700(DDR333) RAM, so you should consider adding at least another 512 MB to it.

In addition to the above - which may be the best answer.

Post a Hjt log - to see what is running on your system.
    Hijack this 2.04
    • Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
    • Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
    • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
    • Click on Install.
    • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
    • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
    • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
    • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
    • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
    • DO NOT use the AnalyseThis button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
    • DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Also post the uninstall log from Hjt log
    Start HiJackThis.
At the bottom right - Other Stuff
Click on Config > Misc Tools.
    Click > Open Uninstall Manager.
    Click > Save List.
Save the uninstall list file on your desktop.
It will then open in Notepad.
Click Edit > Select All > Edit > Copy-and-Paste the uninstall list in the reply box.
    ------
Adding more Ram would also be a good idea.
RAM: 510 Mb - not enough to run Xp these days.

Ok - post the logs listed above when you are ready.
Also let us know what drivers you think are missing.

Run this first - to automatically fix Windows Updates.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058
    Click the Run Now button.

Then - Right click My Computer > Properties > Automatic Updates.
    Tick - Automatic [recommended]
    Apply > Ok.

You can later - once all updates are installed - choose.
Tick - Notify me but don't automatically download or install them.

Let us know the result and then post a New Hjt log.

Ok Blues_harp28, here we go again, I tried what you said but still the same old 7 updates wont load, i went onto the fix it thing like you said it said it was loading then dissapeared i tried it a couple of times but always the same, i notice these 7 updates all seem to be to do with the microsoft net framework, I am getting a bit lost now, not sure what to do, I also have a brand new copy of vista but am not sure if this pc would run it, I am not very good with loading opperating systems bit worrying ! I did notice in the log that there is a thing ARO this was a registry type scanner I once tried and i thought i had got rid of it but i see it is still lurking in there.
