I turned on my laptop and logged in as normal however, the desktop did not load.
The background came up and the Mcafee start up came on, as normal.
This was as far as it got, the start bar didn't load and no desktop short-cuts appeared. It just sits there displaying the background.
I pressed Ctrl-Alt-Delete which brought up the task manager from this I can access my documents, get on the internet, open word etc.
Is there anyway I can resolve this problem? How do I get my start bar and desktop back?

My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1150 running on Windows Xp

Go to the link below and scroll down to line 195 (right column) and download then run the "Restore Desktop Icons and Taskbar" vbs file fix.

To use the VBS Files: Download .vbs file and save it to your hard drive (you may want to right click and use Save Target As). Double
click the vbs file. You will be prompted when the script is done.

Within task manager Choose "File" - "New Task(Run...)" and type "explorer" - OK

Tufenuf's suggestion should also work :)
