My cd drive D doesn't show any more when clicking MY COMPUTER nor will anything load from it. I suspect that it was caused by a scan I made from a reg cleaner "Regcure". I ran the scan but did not purchase the full version. Thats the only thing I am aware of that may have caused the problem. How can I get it back?? Help please.

Click Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore.

Select a restore date prior to when you ran RegCure.

After your computer restarts, see if everything is back to normal.

You learned the hard way why we don't recommend using registry cleaners, no matter what they claim to do. They're too aggressive and will remove VALID registry entries along with the invalid entries.

I seem to have multiple problems. My system restore won't work regardless of dates chosen. I would like to reinstall Win XP but my cd rom doesn't work. First priority is to get the cd rom working. I tried installing a new driver for the cd rom from Dell but that didn't work either. I am in panic mode. Pls help.

I have restored drive D by removing upper and lower filters in the registry as per Dell Support instructions. It works!!
