I use MS word a lot on my Dell Inspiron Lap-top (XP). I have been using A4 and A5 blanks which had on them faint dotted lines outlining the header, footer and the sides of the print area. I found these very useful for my particular kind of work. They were ignored by the printer, which was good. Recently these lines disappeared from my templates and I am having to make do with completely blank sheets to make up my documents. I cannot understand this, and I have been unable to restore the facility because the lines have disappeared from all my previously stored documents. I just cannot find the answer. Can anyone help? Allan.

You didn't mention you version of Word. The following may not work for you if you have a different version from what I use.

If you are using Word 2003, try Tools Menu item -> Options -> View tab -> Print and Web Layout options. See if the box is checked for "Background Colors and Images"
