Solved: Low Virtual Memory msg

    Help Please. I have been recieving a Low Virtual Memory msg. for some time, but I had no one to ture to. I found TSG and WOW do you all have a lot of information. I'm new to this site and thought I'd start here asking for help with the Low Virtual Memory msg.. I might have more problems with this second hand computer but I just have to start some were.
    I play some computer games and this is were the msg. pops up.

    Right click on Computer, Properties, Advanced System Settings, Performance Settings button, Advanced tab, Virtual Memory Change button, See if "automatic manage paging file ..." is checkmarked. You can set the pagefile size manually, and normally the size should be double the size of your RAM.

    Thank you lunarlander for answering my call for HELP. Well, I dont see anythin that sayes "automatic manage paging file...". Bear with me I'm new to this stuff and as you can see spelling is bad. It does say Paging file size for selected drive. Then check Custom size ( Initial size and Maximum) or check System managed size or No paging file. If I was to set it manually can you tell me what I would input?

    Maybe I should let you know what is checked now: Custom size: Initial size (MB) 1522 and the same for Maximum size. It sayes the drive space available is 34433 MB.

    Set the minumum to 256 MB and the maximum to 1,024 MB. If that isn't sufficient, then you either need to clear out your paging file or get more RAM memory.

    The Dell Latitude D610 laptop supports up to 2 GB of RAM, so you should seriously consider maxing it out.

    Virtual memory/page file should be set on "System managed size".

    I'm guessing that laptop has too many programs and services auto-loading and running in the background.

    Go here and click the green "Download latest version" link to download and save

    HiJackThis 2.0.4

    After it's been downloaded and saved, close all open windows first, then double-click the saved file to install it.

    Allow it to install in its default location - C:\Program Files.

    After it's been installed, start it and allow its main window to load.

    Uncheck "Do not show this window when I start HiJackThis".

    Click "Do a system scan and save a log file".

    When the scan is finished in 30 - 60 seconds, a log file will appear.

    Save that log file.

    Return here to your thread, then copy-and-paste the entire log file here.

    Sorry, for the delay in responding, but there is a BIG time differance.

    I advise you to get rid of Uniblue PowerSuite and Uniblue SpeedUpMyPC and any other cleaner/optimizer/booster/tuneup type utilities that you're using in that computer before you wind up trashing it with them.

    They will do little-to-nothing to improve speed and fix problems, but what they can do is damage the Windows operating system and break programs and generate error/warning messages and create overall havoc.

    Start HiJackThis.

    Click on the "Open The Misc Tools Section" button.

    Click on the "Open Uninstall Manager" button.

    Click on the "Save List" button.

    Save the "uninstall_list.txt" file somewhere.

    It'll then open in Notepad.

    Return here to your thread, then copy-and-paste the entire file here.

    I will remove the Uniblue PowerSuite, wish I knew that before I paided for it. That's ok I'd rather have my computer. Please suggest the best way to remove it. I also have CCleaner should I remove that also?
    Should I do the HJT before or after the removel of Uniblue PowerSuite?

    Go to Control Panel - Add Or Remove Programs, then uninstall/remove everything that's associated with Uniblue.

    Also uninstall/remove CCleaner because using its "Registry" feature and over-using its "Cleaner" feature can wreak havoc with your computer.

    After you're done and have restarted the computer, you can follow my previous instructions for submitting an "uninstall_list.txt" log.

    Do the following in the order that they're listed.

    DON'T use the computer while each scan is in progress.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

    Click Start - Run, then type in

    %temp%

    and then click OK.

    Click Start - Run, then type in

    c:\windows\temp

    and then click OK.

    Once those 2 temp folders appear and you can view their contents, select and delete EVERYTHING that's inside them.

    If a few files resist being deleted, that's normal behavior. Leave them alone and delete EVERYTHING else.

    If a massive number of files are being deleted, the computer may appear to "hang". Be patient and wait for the deletion process to finish.

    After it's done, restart the computer.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

    Start Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

    Click "Updates(tab) - Check for Updates".

    When the definition files have updated, click "OK".

    Click "Scanner(tab) - Perform quick scan - Scan".

    If infections or problems are found during the scan, the number of them will be highlighted in red.

    When the scan is finished, click "Show Results".

    Make sure that EVERYTHING is selected, then click "Remove Selected".

    If you're prompted to restart to finish the removal process, click "Yes".

    Start Malwarebytes Anti-Malware again.

    Click "Logs"(tab).

    Highlight the scan log entry, then click "Open".

    When the scan log appears in Notepad, copy-and-paste it here.

    Start SUPERAntiSpyware.

    Click "Check for Updates".

    When the definition files have updated, click "Close".

    Select the "Quick Scan" option, then click "Scan your Computer".

    If infections or problems are found during the scan, a list will appear and the number of them will be highlighted in red.

    When the scan is finished and the scan summary window appears, click "Continue".

    Make sure that EVERYTHING in the list is selected, then click "Remove Threats".

    Click "OK - Finish".

    If you're prompted to restart to finish the removal process, do so.

    Start SUPERAntiSpyware again.

    Click "View Scan Logs".

    Highlight the scan log entry, then click "View Selected Log".

    When the scan log appears in Notepad, copy-and-paste it here.

    How long should a log be kept on these progromes, be they infected or not logs?
    I have a CC Registry Backups log file should I delete it?
    I have a copy of the HJT log and uninstall list on my desktop that you requested earlyer should I delete them.
    I'm a type of person that trys to keep things orderly.

    I'm surprised that both scan logs came up clean.

    I would've expected the SUPERAntiSpyware scan log to display some adware tracking cookies.

    Save the new log that appears, then copy-and-paste it here.
