    Hello,

I'm working to clean this computer out today, except I've ran across some problems. Here's what going on. This computer first off has some crazy partitions. The C drive has 15 GB with 2% free space (used to be zero), and the D drive (where a backup is, this is a HP) has 60 GB with 94% free space. Everything on the computer is on the C drive. Music (theres a ton) programs, everything. The last thing I want to do is a reformat, since right now I have no way of transporting all these files elsewhere. There are a few users logged in, but their mom wont be back for an hour or two, and she has Admin rights with a password I dont know. That means I cant install some programs for now. I have gotten Ad-Aware and Hijack This though. Here's a few pics of the outcome.

Is the D: drive usable - Create a folder for the music files and MOVE them

CONTROL PANEL - SYSTEM - SYSTEM restore tab - setting - ruduce the amount of space for restore points

    Empty the prefetch folder

    DL to the D drive
    EasyCleaner http://www.majorgeeks.com/download414.html

Use the clear files and Unnecessary files buttons - I do not recommend
using the Duplicates files button as many dupes are there on purpose.

In the unnecessary button I check the top 4 entries

CONTROL PANEL - SYSTEM - Move the swap/page file to the D Drive - set it at 2x physical memor i.e. if the machince has 512k of memory set the min and max to 1024

Do a defrag and then post the log

Ok, good thing is I've been doing that all along. Pretty much all the music has been moved, and I have 10% free space now on the C drive.

So with the page file, I go to System > Advanced > Performance Settings > Advanced > Virtual Memory Change...

and then it says C drive Paging File Size 756 - 1512 MB, D drive 0. So what do I do now? Select no paging file for the C drive and move the same number over to the D drive?

Alright, I had to free up some more space, so I took one users documents and moved it over to the D drive. I defragged, and it's still pretty bad, but getting better. Here's a HJT log:

    Did you get EzCleaner???????????

    Fix this

    O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - http://bar.mywebsearch.com/menusearch.html?p=ZC

You have 2 AV's running and that is not good, one of them needs to be removed.

Since you had problems with AA try this

Download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
    · Install ewido.
    · During the installation, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
    · Launch ewido
    · It will prompt you to update click the OK button and it will go to the main screen
    · On the left side of the main screen click update
    · Click on Start and let it update.
    · DO NOT run a scan yet. You will do that later in safe mode.

Restart your computer into safe mode now. Perform the following steps in safe mode:

    Run Ewido:
    · Click on scanner
    · Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
    · During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK
    · When the scan is finished, look at the bottom of the screen and click the Save report button.
    · Save the report to your C: Drive
This will take some time to run!
    Post that log

For some reason, I couldn't run it in safe mode. I rebooted again, and I had to scan without safe mode. It did catch over 30 files though.

You still have Yahoo AV and AVG running - only one AV should be running and if it were mine I'd get rid of the Yahoo AV

Clean [IMG] - If you feel it is fixed, mark it solved via thread tools above - if not what is the current situation?

Thank you for everything. I'm just going to clean it up a bit more, getting rid of some programs, installing updates, etc...

But I have a question. About the partitions, is there any way to resize them, so there is more space on the C drive, and less on the D drive? Besides that, everything looks good. Because most of the programs are on the C drive, and some are now on the D drive, as well as the music. If I could get it so the C drive has about 70, and the D drive has about 10 or whatever is left over, that would be great and I'd be done.

I looked it up on Google, and I found it... for $60. I falso ound a free demo, which is all I need, to only do it once, but I'm not sure if it's right.

    http://www.soft32.com/download-Partition_Magic-151-5.html

Not sure if it's good enough to take the risk of screwing up the computer, especially since it's not mine. I don't have time or any cd's to make a backup either.

    I'd leave it be

Another thing you can do is to un-install any applications that you can reinstall and point them to the other drive.
