Not sure which Forum to post this in. Anyway, here goes.

I run a stand alone PC with an external broadband modem. Our 2nd PC has a broadband wireless router for a different ISP. We bought a laptop too last week and it found the wireless ISP and went online without installing any software - magic. Anyway, it made me think I should be able to ditch the ISP account my first PC and have it network onto the wireless router of my 2nd PC to go online. But I don't know how to do this as I figure it needs some kind of additional hardware (don't know what) to pick up the wireless signal.

Belarc Advisor shows my Communications (I've taken out the addresees) as:
    Intel(R) 537EP V9x DF PCI Modem
    Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller
    GlobeSpan USB ADSL LAN Modem
    WAN (PPP/SLIP) Interface
    Networking Dns Server

    Help please?

Are then any downsides to an external one, since it's easier to connect?

I don't know of any downsides to USB wireless adaptors when they are used for internet access.
