    Hi,

I believe that Outlook 98 gives you two options for finding out when your sent mail has been opened. You can do this for every message you send out, or you can do it on a per-message basis.

To request receipts for each specific message, try this:

When composing the message, choose the View menu, and click "Options"
Under voting and tracking options, select "Request a read receipt for this message"
Then click the "close" button and finish composing your mail as normal.

To request read receipts for every message that you send out:

Open Outlook and click on the "Tools" menu
Select "Options" and then choose the "Preferences" tab
Choose "email options" and then "tracking options"
Check the box for "request a read receipt for all message I send"
    Then click "OK"

Be warned.. some servers will not treat these email notifications properly and you will never receive a notice saying emails from that server were read. Also, some users have their email clients set up to notify them when a read receipt is requested, and they have the option of denying that action. So read receipts are not 100% trustworthy, but most of the time they will work!
