Solved: Microsoft.com network connection error

    Hi I have an HP Pavilion DV 9000 wiith windows vista and while trying to connect to an unsecured public network wirelessly it gave me this error. Can anyone be of assistance.
    The picture attached is the error.

    Does the computer connect to any other wireless networks properly?

    Yes it connects fine at my home

    It would appear to be an issue with that public network. FWIW, I've seen this before, I had the exact same kind of issue with an airport public network. Turned out they had old equipment and it wasn't compatible with many newer wireless adapters.

    One thing to try is to make sure any wireless profiles have been removed in case it's getting confused and trying to use one of those.

    Thx, we did have old profiles and deleted them

    That was the only other thing that made sense to me if the network wasn't the issue, glad you got it sorted out.
