Hi everyone, my computer has been giving me some problems recently.

The problem I'm having is that my mouse (a Logitech G9 gaming mouse) will randomly stop working, my computer will freeze for a second and then it will reconnect. It makes the sound like I'm disconnecting/connecting it via USB.

So far, I've tried updating my mouse drivers (and for my keyboard too, which is a Logitech G19 gaming keyboard), switched to all possible USB ports on my computer and tried a general system clean up. No luck at all. The wire on my mouse isn't frayed or broken at any point either, this problem occurs sometimes when I don't even move my mouse.

Here are some details about my computer.

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate (updated with newest service pack)
    CPU: Intel i7 3.66gHz
Graphics card: GIGABYTE Radeon HD 5970 (2GB)
    RAM: 6GB

Thank you in advance :) If there is any other information that is required, please let me know!

Can you test the mouse on another computer?

    Sure can!

I tried it earlier on with a laptop, no problems. I think it's something with my computer :(

Then that's bad news, a faulty mouse is a much better fix than a problem with the USB ports on the computers.

Please list the exact motherboard and power supply you have.

I have an 850w power supply and the motherboard I have is an Asus Rampage II Extreme.

I've disabled USB Selective Suspend, hopefully that'll fix the problem :)

The issue started not long long ago. I reformatted my computer and re-installed all my old programs and new drivers. Not long after, it just randomly started occurring.

Update: USB selective suspend didn't help :(

Try setting the power settings to Performance or High, whichever it is that Windows calls it, and then go back and disable the Selective USB setting. Then go to Device Manager and into the USB section and go to the USB Hubs and turn off the Power Management.

By the way, this seems to happen a lot more when I play games, especially Arma 2.

Honestly I'd probably try using another mouse.

Update: I think it's some really crappy frayed wiring on my mouse. This is the third one that's had this blasted problem :| I'm gonna marked this as solved, thanks for the help!
