Hi I was wondering if I could get some help with reguards to MSIE 6.0 freezing up and getting errors. I constantly get errors while running MSIE, yet not with netscape 7.0 for some reason. The errors usually look like this:

Error Signature
App name iexplore.exe App Ver: 6.0.300
Mod Name: kernel32.dll
mod ver 4.90 offset 00004277

I also get USER.EXE and Runtime errors.
I have read similiar posts to the forum, and I have downloaded Hijackthis, and here is my log in case you need it.

Hi cwb, and welcome to TSG.. :)

Hold all calls, you're going to busy for the next hour.. :)

Please download and run "Coolwebshredder" from http://www.mnsi.net/~jhlavac/security/privacy.htm first. (Second in the list)

For other tech's, the reason for this link, as opposed to any of the normal ones, ie. Spywareinfo, is that they all seem to be down at the moment. :(
Then please reboot and run a new HJT! log, "check to fix" the following entries, close all browser windows, and click Fix

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer,SearchURL = http://approvedlinks.com/sp.htm

O19 - User stylesheet: c:\windows\system.css

Note: After running Coolwebshredder, you may find some of these have gone anyway. :)

Then reboot, and delete the following bolded files/folders.

C:\PROGRAM FILES\CLEARSEARCH
C:\PROGRAM FILES\XUPITER
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\winservn.exe

The 04 entry marked in red, is the IMSERV.A virus. Could you please go here and run the online scan to remove it.

The 06 entry marked in blue is usually there due to restrictions you've set up within Spybot S&D. If this is NOT the case, then please fix as well.

Then if you could download Spybot - Search & Destroy, from www.tomcoyote.org/spybot : if you haven't already got the program.

Now press Settings, and Settings again.
Go to the Webupdate section, and check "Display also available beta versions".

Now press Online, and search for, put a check mark at, and install all updates.

Next, close all Internet Explorer windows, hit 'Check for Problems', and have SpyBot remove all it finds marked RED.

Then please reboot (again.. :( repetetive, but vital) and post a new HJT! log for the final once over.. :)

Cheers

Thanks so much for your help...... and Liam you were not kidding about the 1 hour lol.
I couldn't believe all the junk on my computer that these programs found, including that virus Nortons failed to pick up.
Everything seems to be running faster and smoother than before.
And I have yet to have Internet Explorer 6.0 crash on me yet.
You wanted me to submit a new Hijack log... so here it is. A lot of this is over my head, so let me know if you see anything else. Once again, thanks a lot.... Tech Support Guy has solved many of my online hassles!

Cwb you might also want to run anti-spyware software every so often on your computer. You'd be surprised at how quickly it gets back on your computer. It's a lot like running anti-virus software. Spybot has a feature that will block spyware from getting on your computer. Prevention is the key ;)
