    Do this in order:

    1) Open Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Internet Options -> delete cookies, delete files (select off-line content), clear history. Then click ok and exit Internet Explorer.

    2) Read http://tomcoyote.org/SPYBOT/index1.html then download and run SpyBot. Make sure to get the updates for SpyBot before you have it scan your computer. After you scan and remove anything SpyBot finds, make sure to click the Immunize button and OK and then click the Immunize button in the right pane.

    3) Run one of the following free Anti-Virus programs here:

http://housecall.trendmicro.com - I found this to work the best.

    http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan

    http://www.ravantivirus.com/scan

    4) Re-post HiJackThis log...

    Can you try this please.
Go to Start > Run > type regedit then press OK
    Navigate to :
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Right click on that key and select export.(that makes a copy of the key) Save it somewhere you will find it, open that file in notepad and copy & paste the results here.

DIGStream Cache Manager - part of ESPN Motion that periodically checks for new videos periodically, downloading them in the background is available. Starting ESPN Motion starts digstream automatically.

Also....when you re-post your H/T logfile, make sure you post it in full, including the running processes.

Keith, with the best will in the world, your advice is helpful for lots of problems but has absolutely no effect on SearchV or other CWS hijacks

We have found out about a new version just out of CWS that has it's starting and running entries in a different place to all others which makes it even harder to find and fix

to check whether your infectionn is this one please do this
open hijackthis/config/misctools/tick 2 boxes about minor & empty sections and press generate start up list

then post that log to the forum

What we were looking for isn't showing in the start up log

    So:

run hijackthis, tick all below, doublecheck to make sure you haven't missed any, close all browser windows & press fix checked

    then delete the C:\DOCUMENTS & sETTINGS \JB\LOCAL SETTINGS\Temp\sqlogco.dll

    See if that cures it
We are making enquiries because we have never seen CWS (searchV) without an obvious entry to reinstall it and none of the usual suspects are showing on your machine

All the O16 entries are called downloaded program files

they are little programs that download and either add in to your browser like flash, or use the browser to run an online virus check like the symantec entry and the nhl entry is a patch for a game, I assume nhl2003

As a matter of course You should check th O16 entries regularly and if any appear that you don't recognise or are not from recognised makers such as symantec, microsoft or macromedia then delete them . If a genuine program needs themthey will prompt you to redownload next time you run that program

    it's quite normal.

the way to solve that permanently is
open IE/tools/options/programs & press reset web settings

that puts everything back to M$ defaults and then you can set your own home page etc
