I decided to uninstall Norton 2003 System Works and replace it with AVG.:) Once all traces of Norton was gone I noticed that my recycle bin icon was gone too. I checked on google but I can olnly fine Recycle Bin restore for Windows XP and it says that I would have to make changes to my registry. I have Windows ME and I don't want to mess with my registry. Does anyone know how to replace a Windows ME recycle bin icon?

Well first off.....You need antivirus software compadable with Windows ME. Im not sure if it was the complexity of norton that ripped away your recycle bin.
    Check in windows explorer....
    START>ALL PROGRAMS>ACCESSORIES>WINDOWS EXPLORER
See on the left side if it is listed there. If it is copy it to the desktop and see if it works.
If not you will have to do a system restore. Just back to the day before you got rid of norton and make sure everything goes right this time.

Thanks for the quick reply, Dreusx. There is a symbol there with the words Recycle Bin under it and I can open it. It's the icon that I'm trying to put back without going through system restore. If it means that I'll have to live with that symbol from now on I'll have to because I don't want to risk reinstalling Norton. By the way, I'm using the term "symbol" because I don't know what else to call it.

It acts as a recylce bin should when I click on it but I miss having the icon that I used to have.
Anyone else have any insight into this matter?

Do you have TWEAKUI installed? If so, take a look there, I think there is an option to hide the recycle bin.

Eureka! No, not the TV series. I found the solution to my problem. I went to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Display and Clicked on Default Icon. And my Recycle Bin icon reappeared. This one is solved.
