Since no one is helping, I'll jump right in. Download Ewido Security Suite Ewido
    · Install ewido.
    · During the installation, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
    · Launch ewido
    · It will prompt you to update click the OK button and it will go to the main screen
    · On the left side of the main screen click update
    · Click on Start and let it update.
    · DO NOT run a scan yet. You will do that later in safe mode.

Restart your computer into safe mode now. Perform the following steps in safe mode:

    Run Ewido:
    · Click on scanner
    · Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
    · During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK
    · When the scan is finished, look at the bottom of the screen and click the Save report button.
    · Save the report to your C: Drive
This will take some time to run!
    Boot to normal mode
Post Ewido log and a new HijackThis log

try going to start, click on run, then type in msconfig

    then click on selective startup

then after that uncheck the box that says "load startup items"

    then apply and restart

(to undo a msconfig change, just go back into the msconfig and select normal startup.)

try the msconfig tweak and see if it fixes your problem, (it should fix most of them)

you have at lease 7 running processes in that list which i am sure are causing major problems.

after doing the msconfig tweak, download and install adaware and download and install spybot

then after that, update both of them and then with both of them, run a full system scan.

    http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/

ps you can remove these with hijack this

Your log is an absolute mess. A lot of works needs to be done.

Please don't disable anything in msconfig. We need to see everything that's running.

You also don't need to download AVG, you already have Norton Anti-Virus.

Please proceed with running Ewido as williesbest2 suggested.

When it finishes, post a new Hijack This log and the results of the Ewido scan.

I haven't been about in forums lately, but in such a case if I remember rightly others in similar situations have posted the log in increments [ie, 2 halves of the log in consecutive posts] rather than one entire log. But it's a good idea to do so while CheeseB is on this. (y)

    Thanks bobol (y)

    Download and run the following:
    Ad-Aware SE: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download506.html

Install the program and launch it.
First, in the bottom right-hand corner of the main window click on Check for updates now then click Connect and download the latest reference files.
Then, in the main window: Click Start and under Select a scan Mode tick Perform full system scan.
Then, deselect Search for negligible risk entries.
To start the scan, click the Next button.
When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right-click the window and choose select all from the drop down menu and then click Next).

    Micro$oft Anti Spyware BETA:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...A8BD-DBF62EDA9671&displaylang=en&Hash=RDXMHB6

Install the program and launch it.
First in the top menu click File then Check for updates to download the definitons updates.
After updating look in the right side of the main window under "Run Quick Scan Now" and click Spyware scan options.
Put a tick by Run a full system scan and then put a check by all three options below that
    Click Run Scan now.
When the scan is finished, let it fix anything that it finds
Have it quarantine the items that have that option rather than delete just in case.

    Restart your computer.

Post a new log. We will have more to do.

Uninstall the following from Add/Remove Programs (if listed there):

    SurfSideKick 3
    WeatherBug
    WildTangent

Please download LQfix.exe and save it to your desktop.
    • Double-Click LQfix.exe and click Next > Next > Install.
    • Leave the default settings, if you change them, the fix will Fail!
    • Now make sure the "Launch LQfix" box is checked.
    • Click the Finish button, after clicking the Finish button the fix will start.
    • Follow the on-screen prompts.
    • Your system will now reboot afterwards.
    • Please be patient after the reboot, there is a script running in the background that needs to complete.

Post a new Hijack This log.

There was some sort of error message that popped up, and now my computer is stuck on a screen where I can see the pointer but there are no desktop icons. (I am posting froma different computer right now). Should I turn it off and on?
