    My norton antivirus constantly alerts me that I have a few virus's which it is unable to remove. The locations Norton is telling me they are located are: C:\WINDOWS\system32\fxmngr.exe (Trojan), C:\WINDOWS\system32\IXT1.DLL (Trojan.Zlob), and C:\WINDOWS\temp\win\OIC.tmp (Trojan). I have run Norton in safe mode but was unsuccessful in removing the virus's. I also have run Spybot, Adaware, and a-squared Guard which also do nothing. I am being spamed with pop-ups... something I thought wouldn't happen with the software I am currently running. If anybody can lend some advice, I would appreciate it!!!

    Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
    Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

    Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
    Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present). We’ll get them next step.
    Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

    Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

    Click here to download HJTsetup.exe:

    http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item5
    Scroll down to the download section

    Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.

    Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
    By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
    Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
    Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
    Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
    At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
    Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
    Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
    Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
    Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
    DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

    You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a NotePad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.

    Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
    • Restart your computer
    • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
    • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
    • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
    • Choose your usual account.
    Once in Safe Mode, open the SmitfraudFix folder again and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
    Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

    You will be prompted: "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

    The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

    The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into Normal Windows.

    A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply along with a new hijack log.

    The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

    Warning: running option #2 on a non infected computer will remove your Desktop background.

    ==========================
    Download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ (W2K/XP Only)
    · Install ewido.
    · Run the application
    · Click on scanner
    · Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
    · When the scan is finished, Set all items to delete
    · Apply all actions
    · look at the bottom of the screen and click the Save report button.
    · Save the report to your C: Drive
    This will take some time to run!
    RE-Boot
    Post that log and a new HiJack log

    You may want to print this or save it to notepad as we will go to safe mode.

    Please click here http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp to download the latest version of JAVA 1.5.0.7. Install the application, then go to the Add/Remove Programs options in the Control Panel and Remove ALL previous versions of JAVA.

    Fix these with HJT – mark them, close IE, click fix checked

    DownLoad http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip

    Restart your computer into safe mode now. (Tapping F8 at the first black screen) Perform the following steps in safe mode:

    Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. Now put a tick by DELETE ON REBOOT. In the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste each of the following lines one at a time then click on the button that has the red circle with the X in the middle after you enter each file. It will ask for confimation to delete the file. Click Yes. Continue with that same procedure until you have copied and pasted all of these in the "Paste Full Path of File to Delete" box.

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\DOBE~1
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\??pPatch
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\regedit.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winpsa32.dll

    Note: It is possible that Killbox will tell you that one or more files do not exist. If that happens, just continue on with all the files. Be sure you don't miss any.

    START – RUN – type in %temp% - OK - Edit – Select all – File – Delete

    Delete everything in the C:\Windows\Temp folder or C:\WINNT\temp

    Not all temp files will delete and that is normal
    Empty the recycle bin
    Boot

    Download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ (W2K/XP Only)
    · Install ewido.
    · Run the application
    · Click on scanner
    · Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
    · When the scan is finished, Set all items to delete
    · Apply all actions
    · look at the bottom of the screen and click the Save report button.
    · Save the report to your C: Drive
    This will take some time to run!
    RE-Boot
    Post that log and a new HiJack log

    Please give feedback on what worked/didn’t work and the current status of your system

    I appreciate your help so far! You have been very quick to respond and easy to understand!!! I am currently NOT being plagued with pop ups and my antivirus has not reported a threat since running the programs you suggested. I have not run a full system virus scan yet... is that something I should go ahead and do, or wait for another time? Thanks again!!! :D

    Here is the ewido anti-spyware scan results:

    A full Virus scan would be good

    DownLoad EasyCleaner http://www.majorgeeks.com/download414.html

    Use the clear files and Unnecessary files buttons – I do not recommend
    using the Duplicates files button
    as many dupes are there on purpose.

    Not all files will delete – that is normal.

    In the unnecessary button I check the top 4 entries
    ==============
    Empty the recycle bin
    ===============
    Look in your Control Panel under Add/Remove programs for the following:

    PuritySCAN By OIN,
    Snowballwars by OIN,
    OuterInfo or anything similar ,

    If found, click on it and click remove.

    If not listed, download and run this uninstaller:

    http://www.outerinfo.com/OiUninstaller.exe
    ===================
    Use hijack - scan only - to fix this - mark it and then click fix checked

    O20 - Winlogon Notify: winpsa32 - winpsa32.dll (file missing)

    ======================

    How are things

    I have downloaded easy cleaner, but when trying to install, I receive an error reading: Setup has experienced an error! Please do the following: -Close any running programs -Empty your temporary folder -Check your internet connection (Internet Based Setups) Then try to run the setup again. Error code: 6002

    Any advice on where to go with easy cleaner? :confused:

    I did not find the programs in the add/remove so I downloaded and uninstalled with no problem

    My internet seems to be running much slower all of the sudden. I have another PC on this network and the internet is fine on it... any idea whats going on with the internet on this PC?

    I forgot to include this in my last post.

    When in the Add/Remove programs folder I found two programs which I never installed and have no idea what they are. They are titled: ANIO service and ANIWZCS service. Are those something to worry about?

    The virus scan found 2 virus's and a trojan. I deleted them all. I still am unable to run easy cleaner. At this point, should i just reinstall my OS? It is not a problem for me to reinstall an OS. Would you like to continue trying to help me out, or should i just wipe my system?
