I am using Windows 8 Pro with word 2003. Unfortunately when I tried to rename a word doc folder I was working on the change somehow made the contents of the folder disappear into thin air (like 4 chapters of a thesis I was working on!). I'm at a loss as to comprehend why a simple task as this should have resulted in the complete loss of my work. When I tried Search File under the old name, this message came up "Unavailable Locations \\PCHOME" (along with an icon that resembles a digibox with a cross through it!!). I've tried everything to try and locate my work but all searches have proved futile so far. Why oh why did Microsoft remove the 'Previous Versions' feature from Windows 8, cos I was banking on using this as a last resort. On Googling to try and find some solution to my dilemma, I came across Shadow Explorer. I've downloaded it OK but I just don't know how to use it!! Where do I locate word documents. I've searched in Docs and Settings but the details came up empty. Should I be looking in program files, and if so, what should I be looking for? I don't know one file from the next as they are all gobblygook to me!! I'm totally hopeless when it comes to computers, so I would be eternally grateful if one of you computer savvy guys, here on this forum, could point me in the right direction.

Thanks to those who took the trouble to read my post, but I've now decided to pay someone to fix the problem.
