I have a hard drive connected to a USB port. Yesterday, the drive letter of this USB drive was D. Front Page accessed this drive as drive D without any problems. Perhaps because I have a faulty DVD/RW drive, somehow the drive designation of the USB drive was changed to F. Since the USB drive designation changed, Front Page now will not/cannot access drive F. I tried to change the drive designation of the USB drive back to D in Disk Management but Disk Management would not let me rename the USB drive to any letter before F. How do I change the drive designation of the USB drive back to D. Thank you in advance for your help and replies.

    (Windows runs on Drive C)

change your CD/DV device drive letter to say Z first, re-boot..you should then be able to assign D to your external drive

    Good Luck

Check the Disk Management for the DVD Recorder. Set it to "No Drive letter"

Change the letter on the device that is holding the letter you what to a later letter.
This will free up the letter you want and you should be able to use it.
Then just change again the other device to the next letter in line
