    if the value in any column is less than 60 it should return the result of FAIL

    =IF(B5>=60, IF(D5>=60, IF(F5>=60, "PASS", "FAIL")))

    If the score for the first argument is less than 60 it returns the value of False when it should be Fail.

    If the score for two arguments is less than 60 returns the value of False when it should be Fail.

    Any thoughts?

    Hi Daisy-Girl, and welcome to TSG.

    Am I safe to assume you are doing this in some version of Microsoft Excel?

    If so, you need to use a separate "FAIL" for each case of the IF test being false.
    Code:
    =IF(B5>=60, IF(D5>=60, IF(F5>=60, "PASS", "FAIL"),"FAIL"),"FAIL")
    FWiW, it might be more logical and easier to understand if you used a single IF function that used the AND function to combine the individual column tests.
