I've already recovered 3 times in the 3 days I've built this thing. This time I'm not letting it connect to the internet, because viruses can enter in even if I don't go to a website, amirite?
Well yes, you can get infected by just connecting the machine to the Net or a network, but you also can by using an infected flash drive, external drive, CD or floppy disk or files from other devices. Even a cell phone can be infected.
How are you sure your computer was infected this way?
More than likely you moved back personal files or connected an infected device.
You should install some security programs from backup disks or drives and update them then you can can connect your computer to the Net.
You will need to catch up with Windows Update, too.
You can use another PC to download drivers, program installers, etc and burn them to CD/DVD to install with.
Yeah, I did.. my old Usb drive was wierd. It always opened with a track00 G: Audio Drive or something like that. On my skeleton it couldn't see the files I wanted to transfer, all it found was that audio file. So I got a new Usb Drive today.
