    Hi

I just started building sites and now i have an offer but i dont know how much should charge since im a newbie. How much does it cost on average to create an E-commerce site from scratch? Scratch includes find web hosting, managing the server, getting domain name, design the site, front end and back end, SEO, etc. Also, Is there a template for breaking down whats involving for creating the whole site?

    Thanks

well i think the real question is...how well do you know the web development side? meaning do you truthfully really know this stuff inside and out or are you going to be learning on the fly on somethings...if so then you should take it easy on the pricing if this is your first real cash exchange for your web development services and skills....just my 2 cents.

Have you called some web site building businesses? that would at least get in the ballpark on how much people are asking , and if you are truly going to help troubleshoot issues on a 9-5 mf basis or full out 24/7 support?

    2.database
    3. Security
    4. Accessibility
    5. Cross browser compatibility and validation

    Testing/Debugging
    1. Functionality
    2. Transaction
    3. User interface
    4. Cross browser

    Production
    1. documentation, Image optimization, description, etc

    Payment implementation
    1. Payment processor
    2. Gateway payment

    Implementation of SSL

I was wondering if you had looked at open source eCommerce solutions.??

    AgoraCart

    Zencart

    osCommerce

These are all free and would save a lot of development time..

Also look at www.Bluehost.com for your web hosting

I would add a design stage. How much this involves, depends on the size of the project and how much time you need to spend with the client to get the design right, and test out ideas with them.
