I have two computers connected with a cat5 cable.distributed through a switch. Vista on one, XP Pro on other. When ISP was wireless bigpond modem, through a USB port. I configured both as required, and was successful. Now changed ISP to Three modem wireless via USB port, result no connection.
I would appreciate any help as I am a novice generally and self taught .
The Three technicians tell me the modem is not intended for networking., but the same was said of the bigpond modem yet that worked....Old Stan

For each computer, let's see this:

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

Type the following two commands, one at a time, followed by the Enter key:

NBTSTAT -n

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Thank you John WILLs. So easy, but to old novices like myself your advice is so greatly appreciated
