When I right click on a file the "send to" button is missing, There is a "Send to" folder in the C:\Documents and Settings\dormouse folder which seems to contain all the options that a "send to" button would offer - Desktop (create shortcut), etc. This is a recent (last few hours) xp pro sp3 installation
Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated

Go to this site http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm click on "S" and go down to "Send To - Add to Context Menu (Right Click)."

Add SendTo the right click. Go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\Send To]

Create a new String value, or modify the existing value, called "(Default)" and set it to this value data:
"{7BA4C740-9E81-11CF-99D3-00AA004AE837}". Exit your registry, you may need to restart or log out of Windows for the change to take effect.
