I have Windows Vista Basic Home and I had Pinnacle Studio 11 for video editing purposed, but after a while it stopped working, so I started using Windows Movie Maker. After I while I uninstalled Pinnacle and afterward Windows Movie Maker won't play the videos and no sound is played either. On Windows Media Player video plays, but no sound is heard. I recently uploaded Windows Live Movie Maker and the video plays on that, but no sound can be heard on that either. Can some one please tell me how I can fix this. Thank you.

Yes I get sound. When I'm on YouTube or other sites the sound plays fine. I also have VLC Player and the same videos work on there. Its just Windows programs that it doesn't work on.

Sorry, I see in your initial post that you mentioned your operating system is Windows Vista.

In that case, download THIS codec package from Microsoft.

Sorry to bother you again, but another problem has come up. The Windows programs only works with videos that I have edited already, but when I use my raw footage the same problems occur.

What file type(s) are your "raw footage?"

Also, have you restarted your computer since the codec installation?

Yes I did and I still have the same problem. My unedited files are .mpg and my edited ones are .wmv.
