Solved: No Sound?!!

    I have no idea how to fix ANYTHING on my computer but today I logged in and I can't get any sound on my computer.....in my device manager the only thing under sound, video, and game controllers is realtek high definition audio, which I'm assuming are my speakers.......CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME :( :( :(

    Those would be your drivers in device manager. If in the driver properties it says the device is enabled and working properly, try troubleshooting the speakers. Start with the most obvious down to detail. Here are a few:

    Is sound muted/volume low in your operating system?

    Are the speakers plugged in?

    Are they connected to the "Audio in" port? (common mistake is to connect to one of the other mini-sterio jacks... I've done it before and spent hours wondering why they didn't work)

    If everything seems fine, try different speakers. (if available, don't go buy new ones in case the speakers aren't the problem)

    Hmmm... I guess those last three don't apply as you are using a laptop.

    Yeah and I tried enabling and disabling my driver but nothing is working!!! :( everytime i try and do anything sound related it screws up, like play media files, or start a game, things like that

    Do you have the speaker icon in your notifications area?

    in the device manger it has a speaker next to it

    No, not there, the notifications area on the start/task bar. Sorry for the vague reference.

    OH! i double clicked on my sounds and some error message pulled up and i hit okay and my sound is back?! very weird....but thank you for your help!!!
