Hey guys, I was hoping you could help me out. I'm running HP Compaq nx6325 and have had it for like...1 n half year or 2 years, can't remember exactly. It used to run XP professional but then I switched over to Vista (it supports vista) However after I switched to Vista the fan is very often running, much more often than it used to be and usually always on medium-high speed and that's just so noisy.
There's no dust in the fan I opened and dusted it, there was a little bit of dust when I first opened it so I cleaned it. That didn't work so I went to the BIOS enabled the "run laptop everytime it's on AC power" then disabled it again and guess what!! The laptop surprisingly decided to shut up the WHOLE EVENING after that and I was so happy when I thought I'd fixed it somehow. But I was wrong :( and now the noise is driving me nuts. The ONLY things I use this pc for is the internet, IM's and Microsoft Office. There're no heavy programs running so I can't figure out why on earth it feels the need to continue on and on and on to run the fan.
When it decided to shut up that evening the laptop was cool the whole time for the first time for ages!! I swear it's the fan to blame that the laptop gets hot!!! It becomes hot just due to the bloody fan running most/all the time.

I think I'm sure it happened after I installed vista :(

I have speedfan installed..and even though it doesn't work at least it measures the heat.
Right now it's
Local Temp 59C
Remote Temp: 73C
HD0: 46C
Temp1: 70C
Temp 2: 42C
Temp 3: 26C
Core: 72C

I don't get it really, and even though the pc is cold the laptop still feels the need to run the fan. Please help, any suggestions would be appreciated!

I opened up the PC again n decided to unscrew some screws around the fan, I hadn't dared doing it earlier so I did and it was so I could lift the fan, I'd just always squeezed an ear pin inside there to clean the blades..now it works like a dream I think! When I turned on the laptop the sound of the fan was way different and it actually was like it could breath!!
