My Pavillion dv7 just starting running noisy. I think it must be the fans. Didn't always do this but now I can hear what I think are the fans running. Could it be dust inside the laptop and if so how do I fix it.

Hi Wayne, the lap top is about 4-5 years old. I am usually using it plugged in all the time. It will run fine for quite some time then I can hear what sounds like the fan running really fast for a bit (20-30) seconds and then quiets down again and will do it periodically. Usually when I am playing a game for awhile. Nothing else happens like freezing or locking up.

Gaming is demanding on a laptop, so the fan is probably kicking in when the interior gets too hot.

Thanks Wayne, it does only seem to happen while I am gaming. Should I not worry about it?

The important thing is that the exhaust cooling fan is cycling on and off like it should.

If it wasn't, the interior would overheat and the laptop would freeze up or shut off.
