Unable to update virus definitions since July.

When I run Live Update, Norton AntiSpam fails to update. LU1845 error. This update was aborted during its preprocessing step.

I've searched Symantec's entire KB for LU1845. The advice they supply has not resolved the issue.

I've searched with google including groups ], experts-exchange, search.yahoo & dogpile for "norton antispam", LU1845, 1845 in every combination of which I can think.

Windows 2000 Pro SP4 with all critical updates.
Athlon 2.4 GHZ
512 MB ram

Troubleshooting steps taken which have not resolved the problem.
sfc /scannow
I've updated "live update".
Clean booted, so that no symantec / norton programs are running.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks.
Yes, tried that, too.

Resolved issue by uninstalling NIS, manually, then re-installing.

I'm not surprised! The 'solution' for many (if not quite all) Symantec problems eventually seems to come down to an uninstall/reinstall.

Not so funny, considering how picky Symantec programs are about any trace of earlier installs, and even worse if you only downloaded the program and didn't pay for the right to d/l it again after the first 60 days.

It remains to be seen if there are any difficulties with reinstalls following the use of product activation from 2004 products onward.

Still, at least you're OK now.
