my friend is getting this error
----
the short cut to Norton Programs Scheduler.Ink refers to a location that is unavailable. - well, norton is no longer on the computer, it was uninstalled, and any trace of it is removed from regedit too. but norton programs scheduler is still in the msconfig startup tab, we unchecked that, rebooted, and it stays checked after the reboot. what else can we try?

Uncheck the entry from Msconfig.

Go to My Computer->Scheduled Tasks. Look for the Norton Programs Scheduler.lnk or any files related to Norton. If you find any delete them.

Did you remove the the data from regedit using a registry cleaner or did you remove it manually? If the Scheduled Tasks folder has no files related to Norton, try the Registry Cleaner from here

Restart the computer, see if that helps.
