I'm posting in this forum because I'm almost sure what's going on isn't a hardware problem.
The 'puter is a Sony Laptop (PCG-FXA47) running XP with fully up-to-date service packs and patches.
At random intervals, when emerging from a sleep state, the computer intermittently ignores both mouse and keyboard input. For example, when I run my finger across the touchpad, the pointer moves smoothly for a second, then freezes for a second, then reappears a few inches away from where it froze.
When I type "Windows is a brutal hack," what comes out is "Wiow i a bral ck." And etcetera.
The only remedy is full power down and power up. Restart doesn't cut it.
Is this just another entry in the "Bill Gates can't teach a computer to wake up clean" file, or is there something I can do besides switch to Linux?
Many thanks for any help you can provide.
