    Hi chaps,

I recently dug out my old WinTV card and followed the installation instructions for WinXP and, surprisingly, it hasn't worked ;)

    I get the following messages:

    1) Error: Cannot load capture filter (Hauppage WinTV Capture)
    2) can not build filtergraph
    3) WinTV Initialization Error. hTV=0

Something seems badly wrong; has any one had similar problems or know anything obvious I should be doing ?

    Any replies appreciated

Did you check to see if it would work with XP?

Yes, the Hauppage site has the driver and application setup files which it says will function on XP.

They even have the temerity to say it's better than before :)

    OK, solved this...

...and the moral of the story is do NOT use the WHQL drivers.

I executed the clearing utility and re-installed the standard XP driver (plus application) and rebooted, a flawless setup ensued, markedly different from the previous installation as it recognised the type of hardware instantly.

I still don't have a picture, but I need to check my sources on that.

Thanks to AcaCandy for the responses and supplying the links.
