Software: Olympus Master 2

Computer Specs:

HP DV 6748us
2gb RAM
nvidia geforce go 7150m
Windows Vista 32 bit SP 2 (started out without any SP but upgraded one and then two during troubleshooting)
--------------------
Error Received:
Heading: Microsoft visual C++ library

Body: Runtime Error!
Program C...

this application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way
--------------------

Attempted fixes:

Have updated to SP1 and then SP 2
Have removed most recent .NET framework installation
Have applied hotfix vcredist_x86.exe
Have attempted to use system restore but restore points do not go back far enough to matter
Have attempted reinstall from original disc (also crashes)
Have attempted reinstall from copy of files download from support website.
Have attempted to run in compatibility mode for XP SP2
Have attempted to obtain Olympus Master 1, which appears to be unavailable and not free
Have googled the living heck out of this issue.

Thanks for your help!

I dumped Olympus Master soon after I got it and installed Picasa, which is a much better program.

Agreed, but this is somebody elses computer. That was my advice but his wife does not want to change software. Typical variation of AOL dependancy.

Then this is your chance to be a hero.
It certainly does no harm to have both installed simultaneously, and it only takes a few minutes.
Perhaps once she sees how well Picasa works she can begin the weaning process.
Cue:Mission Impossible theme.
Good luck.

Olympus Master 2 had to be deleted with something called "Windows Cleanup Utility". Next msxhtml SP 2 (4 instances) had to be deleted with the same utiltiy, finally msxhtml SP 3 had to be installed. Next we reinstalled Olympus and did NOT LET IT OPEN AFTER INSTALL, then we had to reopen windows cleanup utility and remove msxhtml SP2 again because Olympus installs it. Finally we successfully opened Olympus.

Hope that helps anybody who googles this thread.

Cheers!
