I cannot resolve XP not shutting down correctly. It always stops at the "saving your settings" point. I know that this is very much a known problem for XP and I have downloaded the patch on the Microsoft website to solve it but it still the problem persists. Also I have turned off the welcome screen, in a hope to cure it but still it hasn't. Does anyone have any other ideas as to what could be causing it.

    thanks

Ok, let's see what kind of programs you have loading at startup.

Start, run, type msinfo32 and hit ok, go to software, startups, edit, select all, edit, copy and come back and paste.

Great. That TkBellExe may put itself back the next time you run Real Player. I'm not sure if that was the MAJOR culprit or not......if it is, you may have to uncheck that one via Real Player startup options.

it has enabled itself again and the problem reoccured so it must be realplayer.

I've been looking to disable it from realplayer but can't find it. I've been looking in preferences.

Also the real player update isn't there? Did you already fix it?
