I am trying to work on a friend's computer. She had downloaded Super Antispyware before all this started happening. We can no longer access any applications, sytem info, or anything. i.e., If you click on the Control Panel, then Add or Remove Programs, the pop up comes up that says:
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\rundll32.exe
    Application not found.
Also, if you click on an icon on the desktops let's say for IE the window pops up that says:
    Open With
Choose the program you want to open the file. IE is actually the only one that will open after this pop up.
Anything else, such as, Cache Cleaner, Yahoo Messenger, the Open With box pops up but I have no idea what program to use for any of these items, or how to access them.
Did something happen while running antispyware? Is there a virus? The system was running super slow before this, and getting lots of popups. Which is why I suggested to her to download SuperAS.

HollyG, Go to the link below and scroll down to line 12 (left column) and click on "EXE (lnk and regfile) Fix for Windows XP" to download a reg file fix. Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it and answer yes to the import prompt.

If you can't access the Internet use another computer to download it onto a floppy or CD and transfer it to the problem computer. If you can't run the file do the following:

Press CTRL-ALT-DEL and open Task Manager. Once there, click File, then hold down the CTRL key and click New Task (Run). This will open a Command Prompt window. Enter REGEDIT.EXE and press Enter. Once regedit is open click File>Import and locate that reg file fix, hilite it and click Open.
