My optiarc DVD+RW AD-5540A ATA Device, spins up but does not read that it has a disc in it, then it stops spinning. I open computer and it does not show that it has a disc in the drive. Is the eye broken or something? Please help.

If you can take the same CD/DVD to another drive and it reads fine, then either you have a bad drive, or the drivers are corrupted.

From Device Manager, delete/uninstall the DVD drive, then allow your machine to re-detect it.

If that doesn't work, then it may be time for a replacement...

I am having it replaced, it's still under warranty, with help i was able to figure out that the spindle is glitching or something, so it doesnt spin up right, i think thats what it means.
    Thanks for the help gurutech,
