I am unable to create accounts in Outlook 2003. Express works fine but. I have tried all the usual. Previously worked ok. I had to reinstall Win XP Pro and did a clean install of Office 2003.
I have DSL line and Wireless connection. Internet works fine. I have 2 other computers. No problems. Get message:Operation failed due to registry problem.... Tried to reinstall. No Solution. Mail button on control panel doesnt react at all.

OBP.:) Tried. Detected & repaired. Office tried to import settings. No change. Pondering & praying didnt help either. Express now also gone somewhere. Any other ideas. Grateful.

Just got Xpress back up. Offce03 defaulted to Outlook. Reinstalled Offce. Xpress now ok but outlook still obstinate as a mule.

    Hi bviljoen

Is it that you are not able to create e-mail accounts in Outlook 2003 or that you cannot create Profiles?
If it is the former, try creating a new Profile for Outlook 2003.
How to create a new e-mail profile in Outlook 2003

    Let us know.

:( Neither. Cannot create profiles nor accounts. I also notice if I try to create a "task" I get message: The messaging interface has returned an unknown error... I am starting to feel stupid.

What happens when you try to create a new Profile using the Microsoft article I linked for you?
Are you receiving any error messages during that process?

Can you create a new .pst file?

    With all windows closed:
    Start > Run
    Key in:
    Regsvr32.exe %Windir%\System32\Ole32.dll
    OK

Start Outlook and attempt to create a new Task.
Let us know if that makes a difference or not.

Looks like it was taken care of. Never heard anything back otherwise.

To all you rather helpful types. It was night time in South Africa. I went to bed at 24h00. Old geezers need at least some beauty sleep. I am back now and will try the various solutions. Will let u know re progress. In meantime many thanx. I appreciate the assistance.

Question: If I repair the registry directly. Manually. I have two other computers where Outlook is working fine. Copy the registry item (If I can find it) directly?

Cannot create .pst file. The program simply remains unresponsive. Same with creating a profile.
