 When I click on the desktop O.E icon, it's suppose to open O.E. With mine, I get this message: "Error Deleting File or Folder-Cannot delete ntuser.dat: It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again." I've never received this message before....What do I do to correct this???

Are you able to open OE from other places such as start/programs/outlook express? If so just create a new desktop shortcut.

Yes, I tried that, & it doesn't matter where the icon is located....it still does the same thing.

Then it sounds like your OE needs to be re-installed. Before doing so don't forget to save your address book and any folders/e-mails you want to keep before doing so. Also your ISP logon info and password..

    Hi Goldy

Welcome to Tech Support Guy Forums!

After seeing the error message, are you able to use Outlook Express at all?

If so, try creating a new Identity in Outlook Express, and see if you still receive the error.

    In Outlook Express
    Create a new Identity:
File > Identities > Add New Identity
    Name the Identity
Click Yes when asked if you want to switch to the new Identity.
Cancel out of Importing or Upgrading if the option is given.
    Recreate your E-mail account.

Set the New Identity to be the default Identity:
File > Identities > Manage Identities
In the drop down fields select the New Identity for both:
Use this Identity when starting a program
    and
Use this Identity when a program cannot ask you to choose an Identity

Close and restart Outlook Express to see if the error returns.

If you cannot use Outlook Express at all, how many Windows Users Accounts do you have?
Does the same error occur in all the User Accounts?
Have you deleted any User Accounts recently?

Create a new User Account and see if Outlook Express gives you the same error.

    Let us know what happens.
