Hi, I have posted before about this but under the heading Virus/spyware.
My Outlook Express keeps opening a new message window all by itself. I can't figure out what is causing it to open. I'm not busy with anything when it does, it just opens by itself.
I have done spyware scans and anti-virus scans till it came out my ears.
One of the moderators here have helped me with an HiJack This log and cleaned all the baddies out. It still happens though.
Anyone with any suggestions??

What e-mail message is being opened?

i.e., the first e-mail listed, or from one particular person?

No it's a new one.
It's only got the address [email protected] written in there.
I have emailed them and they claim they know nothing about any spyware that does that.

..also noticed that I can't copy text out of Express anymore, it won't let me even highlight it.

Some of the crap that you had on your system probably corrupted OE in some way. Unless you want to hunt down Registry entries and correct them manually, I'd try a "repair" of OE first. Back up your identities and any important emails then follow THESE instructions for repairing IE/OE from Microsoft.

Let us know what happens...

Ah.... I've done that!
Couldn't boot back into XP, got all kinds of errors, something about Graphic User Interface not being able to boot.
I then did a boot to last known good config...
I would be glad if you could help me with those registry entries you are talking about about...

Hey again, Jack... I wish I could tell you all of the possible Registry keys that this stuff may have affected. Sadly, that's beyond me, buddy. Stick around and let's see what Cheeseball81 comes up with in his research. I'll keep an eye on this thread too. If I think of anything, I'll let you know.

Hi Jack Goa

Have you checked in Outlook Express for a Rule that may be creating this new message?
Tools > Message Rules > Mail
Look for a Rule that has [email protected] in it.
Let us know what you find there.

If nothing is showing for Message Rules, try creating a new Identity in Outlook Express to see if the problem persists.

Create a new Identity:
File > Identities > Add New Identity
Name the Identity
Click Yes when asked if you want to switch to the new Identity.
Cancel out of Importing or Upgrading if the option is given.
Recreate your E-mail account.

Let us know if that makes a difference.

If not, can you see any type of pattern with the new message being created?
Is Outlook Express the only program running?
If not, what other programs are normally running when this occurs?

Hi, thanx for jumping in on this. I have checked for a rule, nothing there.
I will create a new identity, even though I cannot see how that could be affecting it, I only have one identity. The main default one.
Even though I have more than one email account.
Outlook Express is not even open sometimes when it happens.
For instance I can leave my pc running and when I get home there will be like 4 or 5 of them open at a time.
One pattern I have noticed is that it always opens two after each other.
