i am running win7-home prem, sp1. hard disk crashed and was unbotable, rebuilt system with new drive, all fine. used old c:/ drive as slave and was able to view data subdirs. however when i clicked on doc&settings / users it was denied. permissions included admin group. if i upgrade to win7 prof, and create the admin group WILL I BE ABLE To VIEW DATA?

any help would be appreciated. / SandorC

Change the owner as directed. Then back on the Security Tab, Choose Edit and then Add to add your account name into the list.
