Hi, I'm building a computer and the first thing i'm picking is the CPU.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Intel-Pen...0?pt=UK_Motherboards_CPUs&hash=item1c1d6d4758 : This is the one I had in mind, I know it has a good speed and dual core but the bus speed is only 800mhz. Will that make the speed suffer or will it be okay with that bus speed? I just want to pick out the best CPU I can afford and make it worth it.

    Thanks.

That's a previous generation processor for a now obsolete platform, if you're building a new system I'd look at a current generation platform rather then be stuck in a limited and expensive upgrade path.

If your budget is so low for a CPU, then maybe consider a Intel Pentium G620 for socket 1155: http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials...t+LGA1155+Processor+-+Retail+?productId=44715
Buying from a retail store will also ensure you get proper warranty.

An AMD Athlon II in socket AM3 would also be a good budget alternative: http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/CPUs+/+Processors/AMD+Athlon+II/

Hi, thanks for the help. I'm looking at the intel one you suggested, I just have a few questions.

    What is smart cache?
How can a CPU have a GPU?
    Is 850mhz the bus speed?

    Thanks.

    Hi, thanks for the help.

Oh yes, I understand, that would be a good thing so thats a good point for that CPU.

So, if the CPU has a GPU built in, you don't need an integrated graphics card or an add-on graphics card? Sorry but i'm not great with graphics cards, i'll have to get more reading done on them.

That's correct you wouldn't need a dedicated graphics card unless you want better gaming performance. But the motherboard has to have video out ports, but instead of working with an integrated GPU on the chipset they work with the graphics on the processor.

Hi thanks, your replies have been very helpful.

Also, I was just wondering, what are the best places to buy computer parts?

    Thanks

In the UK, I know of Aria, Overclockers, Scan, eBuyer, and Dabs but there's a lot more. Personally buying parts or a computer off eBay seems risky to me.

I know eBay can be risky but I can't avoid them because they are cheap! haha.

I will try the ones you mentioned when buying the parts for my build.

    Thanks for all your help!

    They're not always that cheap.
