Plaese can someone recommend a free player? My WMP ver.9 cannot play them even when I allow it to search the net. All I get is the visualisations and no file pictures. Using Win XP.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I finally settled on GOMplayer which has a nice interface and not very large. It plays .AVI files OK but when I tried to play a .RM file it directed me to a free codec site and I had to download RealAlt.
So I now have to have WMP9, GOMplayer and RealAlt!

    Thanks again.

Media Player Classic that I linked above will play Real, Quicktime, and Avi files, though you may need Real Alternative and Quicktime Alternative. Those are very nice replacements for the real things, work just as well, even in web pages, and are a lot less annoying.

So, if you install the 2 alternatives and MPC, you need only one player.

JetAudio will also play most formats and is a very nice player.

AH!! Thankyou Elvandil for posting the FFDSHOW program. It fixed my AVI problem in Vista. I have been searching the forums for over two hours now trying to get this fixed. I have a lot of movies that people like to watch when they are at my house that are AVI :) I'm so happy now.

Too bad you couldn't fix my sound problem on XP Pro...lol
