Hi tanman

I think we should see a Hijack This log since you are infected.

Click here to download it: http://thespykiller.co.uk/files/hijackthis_sfx.exe

Let it extract to C:\Program Files

Close out any open browsers
Launch the program
Hit "do a system scan only"
When that finishes, hit "save log"
The log will open in Notepad
Copy & paste that log into this thread

Do not fix anything yet

i unzipped it to C:/Program Files/HijackThis. norton also popped up and said it detected some viruses and automatically repaired them i think. then i just got disconnected. i had to unplug the phone jack from the wall and put it back in.

i also tried hammerheads web page. i did the thing where you copy the long thing and paste it into run: REG add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v DisableTaskMgr /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f it worked for a while then the above mentioned things in norton popped up and it was disabled again. i just pasted it again and now it works. but i'm probably still infected.

You have several items that need fixing. The few that bleepster mentioned are just the tip of the iceberg. I don't expect you to be an expert with HijackThis, or you wouldn't be asking for help. You do however, need to follow the instuctions that I mentioned. Would you prefer it if I list instructions for you to follow, and then you follow them and come back for the next set of instructions?

Hi tanman,

Please post your HJT log again and do not reboot your machine or try to fix anything until you get a response. This hijacker changes and if you have done anything since your last log was posted it may be different now.
