hi, welcome to TSG.

those are ok as far as I can tell!

download ccleaner

http://www.ccleaner.com/

* Install CCleaner
* Launch CCleaner and look in the upper right corner and click on the "Options" button.
* Click "Advanced" and remove the check by "Only delete files in Windows temp folders older than 48 hours".
* Click OK
* Do not run CCleaner yet. You will run it later in safe mode.

Click on the Issues tab, uncheck both boxes Registry Integrity and File
Integrity
Click the Applications tab, scroll down to the Multimedia section and uncheck
Macromedia Flash Player.

go to this site and download these tools and once you get both
adaware and spybot, update both of them.

Set adaware to do a full system scan and deselect, "search for neglible risk
entries". Click next to start the scan. Delete everything adaware finds.

reboot and now run spybot

Spybot: Search and destroy.

Delete what spybot finds marked in red. After updating spybot hit the
immunize button.

reboot again

With CWshredder close all browsers and programmes and select the FIX button.

Go here and download Microsoft Antispyware Beta. First in the top menu click
File then Check for updates to download the definitons updates.

After updating look in the right side of the main window under "Run Quick
Scan Now" and click Spyware scan options. In that window put a tick by Run a
full system scan and then put a check by all three options below that then
click Run Scan now.

When the scan is finished, let it fix anything that it finds (have it
quarantine the items that have that option rather than delete just in case.
It is a beta program and there may be false positives)

Restart your computer.

All tools can be downloaded at the link below and found on that page!

. Microsoft® Windows AntiSpyware
. SpyBot search and destroy
. AdAware SE

http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads31.html

have hijack this fix these entries. close all browsers and programmes before
clicking FIX.

Cannot seem to download what I need from here http://www.ewido.net/en/ I have not been able to get into this site without it timing out. Is anyone else having trouble? I going to assume the site is down. I have accomplished all steps except for the download and installing of ewido security suite and then running both Ccleaner and Ewido security suite in safe mode.

clean log.

Was your computer playing up, or was this just a check?

have hijack this fix this one.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MSConfig] C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\MSConfig.exe /auto

here's some free tools to keep you from getting infected in the future.

to stop reinfection get these two tools, spywareguard and spywareblaster
from

www.javacoolsoftware.com

get the hosts file from here.

put it into :

Windows XP = C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
Windows 2K = C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
Win 98\ME = C:\WINDOWS

http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

ie-spyad.Puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected

when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.

https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/resource.htm

http://www.winpatrol.com/winpatrol.html

prevX: it stops spyware

http://www.prevx.com/prevxhome.asp

Use spybot's immunize button and use spywareblaster' enable
protection once you update it. you can put spybot's hosts file into
your own and lock it. Plus you can also turn on spybot's tea timer
for added protection against pests.

I would also suggest switching to Mozilla's firefox browser, it's safer, has a built in pop up blocker, blocks cookies and adds.

khazars, thanks. I will review your post regarding your suggestions. I had picked up a virus which one of the symtoms was to turn my NAV off. I could not turn it on to auto startup. I continued to get an alert message that my NAV was turned off. Also, my email was on high alert as well. I also found several other Alcan worm, W32.tiot and similar and one other I cannot remember. I ran all the scans suggested on the forum before posting my need for help here. In the midst of this I deleted two needed files and had to recover that. I had to refer to various forums and google for help in getting NAV to work. Found a fix, but at start up I still get the alert message that NAV is off and that is until NAV auto start ( which it seems to be auto starting last on the list- I would like to get it to load soon so I don't have to see the alert message).
The viruses was not able to be fixed or deleted so I manually followed the path to where it was to be and deleted them. But I had to be sure it was gone so I posted my log. If you think it is clean...then I am content.

Smash, I read your suggestions and got rid of MSN search toolbar....never really liked it any way and from your post it appears to be many potentials there.

c:\WINDOWS\system32\UStorSrv.exe belongs to Imations flash drive. I don't know why it stored it self on my pc and don't want it there so I removed it.

All the others I can account for and have left as is.

So here is my lasted HijackThis Log: (hopefully it gets a clean bill of health)
