This is what shows up in HJT Detective:

Malicious

These entries have been positively identified as malicious programs. In the HijackThis program, place a check mark next to the following entries.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [98D0CE0C16B1] rundll32.exe D0CE0C16B1,D0CE0C16B1
(Description: BrowserAid/Startium parasite related )

O15 - Trusted Zone: *.media-motor.net
(Description: Search engine hijacker)

Suspicious

Suspicious entries have been found in your log. They might be spyware/malware. We advise that you follow all of the directions on this page, and then re-run HijackThis. If you are still seeing this "Suspicious" section, you should go to the Spyware Help section of our site and post your log in a new topic so that our experts can analyze it personally.

Suggestions

The following are not necessarily spyware/malware, but we suggest you place a check mark next to the following entries, as these programs may be taking up system resources.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WINDVDPatch] CTHELPER.EXE
(Description: CTHELPER is a background task that is a plug-in manager for Creative drivers. The theory is that 3rd party manufacturers can use the CTHELPER plug-in interface to produce drivers, add-on features, and fixes that will integrate with a tighter fit with Creative's sound drivers and utilities. Given its purpose CTHELPER would normally be classified as a "leave alone" background task. It also allows Creative speaker setup to be synchronized with Windows Control Panel speaker setting. Without it running that check box in Creative speaker setting is not functional (settings are not in sync). Unfortunately there are often problems with CTHELPER, most notably that it can use 100% of CPU time so it's best left disabled unless you need it )

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_05\bin\jusched.exe
(Description: Sun Java update scheduler. Checks for updates. Not necessary. Removing this entry will free up a small amount of system resources.)

O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA9.EXE
(Description: Microsoft Office Startup Assistant. This program loads some Microsoft Office components into memory, even if you're not currently using MS Office. Removing this unnecessary program will free up a considerable amount of system resources. )

I should have said that I did before I bought counterspy. The problems came back and I ran counterspy. The problems won't go away. The worst now is banners.searchingbooth.com and ads.deskwizz.com. However, ad-aware, spybot, and counterspy still find some others everytime I run them.

Automated scanners are WORTHLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is a ref to istbar so

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/FxIstbar.exe

From Symantec
Note:
· The date and time displayed will be adjusted to your time zone, if your computer is not set to the Pacific time zone.
· The removal tool may terminate Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer. It is recommended that users save their work and log out of these programs before running the removal tool.
· The removal tool will reset the Internet start page to a blank page. The start page can be modified by clicking on Tools > Internet Options in Internet Explorer.
· The removal tool will not delete some harmless Temporary Internet files, which Adware.Istbar created, in C:\Documents and Setings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files.
These can be manually deleted using the following steps:
a. Start Internet Explorer.
b. Click Tools > Internet Options.
c. In the Temporary Internet Files section, then click the Delete Files button.
d. Check Delete all offline content, and then click OK.

Print this and boot to safe mode

I did as told. However, I could not delete DFF81A in Windows/Temp because the message said that it was being used by another person or program. Also, could not delete x10nets in hijackthis misc tools section because the message said it was enabled or running.

Here is my log:

Normal with temp files

Click Start > Run > and type in:

services.msc

Click OK.

In the services window find X10 Device Network Service.
Rightclick and choose "Properties". On the "General" tab under "Service Status" click the "Stop" button to stop the service. Beside "Startup Type" in the dropdown menu select "Disabled". Click Apply then OK. Exit the Services utility.

Note: You may get an error here when trying to access the properties of the service. If you do get an error, just select the service and look there in the top left of the main service window and click "Stop" to stop the service. If that gives an error or it is already stopped, just skip this step and proceed with the rest.

The above is not needed

In Hijack This, click on the "Open Misc Tools section" button. Next click the "Delete an NT service" button. Copy and paste the following in that box:

x10nets

Click OK.

All went well when I tried it as you said. Now it is just a matter of waiting to see if the popups come back. Sometimes you have to be on line a few minute before it happens. If I don't reply back again, you will know all is well. If that is the case, Thank You, Thank You, and Thank You.

The popups from ads.deskwizz.com are back. My wife was playing an online game at a Yahoo site. Could that be the problem? If so, please help me once again and she will not visit that site again. Thanks. Here's my hijack this log. Also, I was wondering if I should have gone back to change any settings to their original settings. If so, which ones?

My wife played her Yahoo games for about an hour, and there were no popups. All seems to be working very well. Thanks to all that helped me out. Here is my hijackthis log:
