Is anyone else having trouble with MS Critical Updates today?

I'm using XPmce 2005 that was fully updated up to today.
On first boot Online Armor failed to load and a window opened stating I didn't have rights to start it.
Second boot Online Armor loaded after windows fully loaded, but the Online Armor icon that usually loads before Windows loads doesn't appear. The firewall is supposed to load before the ethernet drivers load, but now I'm not so certain it was.
All shut downs had to be 'hard'.

I have gone back to a recent image and don't intend to do MS updates for a while.

My Win 2K system updated without any issues.

    Today is MS patch Tuesday.
I was up unusually early and they weren't available....that was about 5am eastern.

    I think I downloaded them about 2pm.

There were 8 for XP including the malicious app tool.
7 for Win2k including the malicious app tool

Both of my systems use Online Armor for a firewall, it was the XP system acting up.....win2k was solid after the update.

I've since reverted to an XP image that I made a month ago.
I'll go back and see what updates are now available.

Here is a screen shot, of the updates, that I just took.
I am not installing any of them at this time.
The bottom update that is a 'Cumulative' that had been several weeks ago.
The rest should be what I installed earlier today.

Are you running Sandboxie by any chance?

So far I'm only seeing an issue with KB979683 breaking Sandboxie.

Sandboxie did load however, though I didn't use it.

I'm running this set of updates right now on my Windows 2000 test environment and on a Windows XP Home Edition (SP3) system I'm working on.

I'll report back any strange problems I encounter, if any.

    Peace...

I had about a dozen updates for Windows XP/Vista and Office 2003 appear late this afternoon. They installed fine in both computers and everything appears to be working fine.

AVG9 is the only program that auto-loads and runs in the background, and I don't use a third-party firewall.

Other issues may come out over the next few days.

But the fact that you have Sandboxie indicates there could be a connection there with that particular update.

Since you restored to an image, we don't really know if uninstalling the updates would have fixed the problem but would assume so.

You could try installing them one at a time to see which one is the culprit but that would be a bit tedious. If you decide to try that though, I would hold off on KB979683. If all the others install properly then that one could be the problem.

Or of course wait a bit and see what issues are reported.

Ok, both the Windows 2000 and XP systems have been updated and rebooted and both are running just fine, no issues whatsoever.

    Peace...

Stoner, I run Online Armor free 4.0.0.15 on one PC and OA++ (paid) 4.0.0.35 on another PC. The same eight M/S updates for XP all installed OK for me, and I had no issues with either version of OA starting.

I think I'll wait several weeks before installing those updates.

    Thank goodness for drive imaging!
