I have just up graded to WMP 7.01 and it runs fine. While going through and running some video clips, one with .asf extension would not play the video. The sound was there, but not the video.
I looked for some settings that might be wrong, but nothing jumped out at me that might be wrong.

    Can someone help me?

    eddie5659, thanks for the reply.
    Running win98se (in my signature).
Did not see an update for .asf.
What are codecs? Are they only for a network? The instructions are for administrators.

The file was running with the older ver. I had. I have 3 files with .asf extension. One, that came with the 7.1 WMP update will play. The other two will only play sound.

    Okay

That ASF update was just for version 6.4. Thats the one I have, and thats why I remembered it :)

As for the codecs, even though it says Administrators, thats only about the silent installation. All you need to do, is download the file, and run it.

Can you play and view this one:

After running the codecs update, but when I try to run that .asf link you gave I get the error message, "This specified server could not be found".

My file that would not run, will now.

    Thanks!

I just chose that link from a search on the Web.

But, glad the other file that you were having problems with is working okay
